The Regional Forum on Solutions was stage to provide a platform for decision-makers and practitioners from Latin America and the Wider Caribbean Region to exchange experiences and ‘solutions’ in marine and coastal planning, management and governance for sustainable development.
The aim of the forum was to:
Enable mutual learning and support knowledge transfer on experiences and ‘blue solutions’.
Inspire participants and facilitate the adaptation of successful experiences towards the implementation of sustainable development solutions in marine and coastal contexts.
In doing so, the following key themes were addressed:
Coastal and marine spatial planning and management
Sustainable finance and ecosystem services
Climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction
The Regional Forum on Solutions was organized by the Blue Solutions Initiative and held in partnership with the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP) of the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), United Mexican States. The Forum was convened in collaboration with the Sustainable Ocean Initiative (SOI) of the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
