Las comunidades costeras, la pesca artesanal y el turismo est\u00e1n en riesgo. La modelizaci\u00f3n de los riesgos costeros ha demostrado el papel positivo y rentable que los arrecifes de coral pueden desempe\u00f1ar en la mitigaci\u00f3n y adaptaci\u00f3n a los peligros, y sugiere que los arrecifes de cresta de arrecifes poco profundos (antes dominados por el coral cuerno de alce) disipan la mayor parte de la energ\u00eda.
