The Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) and newly-established Dominica National Conservation Trust Fund (DNCTF) on September 26, 2022, signed a Pre-Financing Agreement aimed at supporting the full operationalisation of the Fund and its eligibility for a CBF Partnership Agreement.<\/p>\n

The Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) and newly-established Dominica National Conservation Trust Fund (DNCTF) on September 26, 2022, signed a Pre-Financing Agreement aimed at supporting the full operationalisation of the Fund and its eligibility for a CBF Partnership Agreement. Today\u2019s signing marks the completion of the first phase of support and cooperation between the CBF and the DNCTF towards benefitting from a sub-account within the CBF Endowment Fund. The sub-account was established in December 2019 through a separate agreement between the CBF and the German Development Bank with an initial deposit of 2 million euros.<\/p>\n

Para acceder a los recursos de la subcuenta, el gobierno de Dominica y sus socios locales est\u00e1n trabajando para establecer un Fondo Nacional de Conservaci\u00f3n (NCTF, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) que cumpla los requisitos, el Fondo Nacional de Conservaci\u00f3n de Dominica (DNCTF, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s), el cual mejorar\u00e1 el acceso de la isla a flujos financieros sostenibles y aumentar\u00e1 su capacidad de respuesta ante perturbaciones relacionadas con la conservaci\u00f3n y el clima.<\/p>\n

La Dra. Kyra Paul, Secretaria Permanente Interina del Ministerio de Econom\u00eda Azul y Verde, Agricultura y Seguridad Alimentaria Nacional, expres\u00f3 su agradecimiento al CBF y a sus donantes durante la ceremonia de firma celebrada en el Jungle Bay Resort.<\/p>\n

\u201cAgradecemos al Fondo para la Biodiversidad del Caribe y al Banco Alem\u00e1n de Desarrollo su apoyo a nuestras iniciativas de conservaci\u00f3n y desarrollo sostenible en Dominica. A trav\u00e9s de nuestro Fondo Fiduciario Nacional para la Conservaci\u00f3n, esperamos facilitar proyectos para seguir conservando y protegiendo nuestras \u00e1reas marinas y terrestres, afirm\u00f3 el Dr. Paul.<\/p>\n

Dominica aspira a convertirse en el und\u00e9cimo pa\u00eds con el que la CBF ha firmado un acuerdo para acceder a recursos financieros sostenidos de un Fondo de Dotaci\u00f3n administrado por la organizaci\u00f3n. Los otros pa\u00edses que ya han firmado acuerdos con la CBF para acceder al Fondo de Dotaci\u00f3n son: Antigua y Barbuda, Bahamas, Rep\u00fablica Dominicana, Granada, Guyana, Hait\u00ed, Jamaica, Santa Luc\u00eda, San Crist\u00f3bal y Nieves, y San Vicente y las Granadinas.<\/p>\n

La directora ejecutiva del Fondo de Biodiversidad del Caribe, Karen McDonald Gayle, comparti\u00f3: \u201cEl CBF se complace en firmar este acuerdo de prefinanciamiento con el DNCTF y esperamos con inter\u00e9s el trabajo que se realizar\u00e1 bajo su gobernanza al unirse a la misi\u00f3n de la Arquitectura Financiera Sostenible del Caribe para apoyar actividades que contribuyan sustancialmente al financiamiento y la conservaci\u00f3n y el mantenimiento a largo plazo de la biodiversidad en la regi\u00f3n\u201d.\u201d<\/p>\n

La Arquitectura Financiera Sostenible del Caribe (\u201cArquitectura Financiera\u201d), actualmente compuesta por el Fondo de Biodiversidad del Caribe (CBF) regional y los ahora once Fondos Fiduciarios Nacionales de Conservaci\u00f3n (NCTF), es la realizaci\u00f3n de una visi\u00f3n para crear financiamiento confiable y a largo plazo para la conservaci\u00f3n y el desarrollo sostenible que beneficiar\u00e1 a la regi\u00f3n del Caribe para las generaciones venideras.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the pre-financing agreement is to support the Dominica National Conservation Trust Fund (DNCTF) to make the necessary preparations for the CBF Partnership Agreement that is aimed at conservation and grant making activities in Dominica. The pre-financing agreement also makes it possible to hire staff and establish the necessary administrative infrastructure for the DNCTF to function as an independent institute.<\/p>\n
