MARENA significa Fondo Nacional para el Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales.<br \/>\nEl equipo de MARENA, encabezado por la ingeniera Judith Valdez como Directora Ejecutiva, se compromete a cumplir con sus funciones en cumplimiento de la Ley 64-00, bajo la cual fue creado. MARENA contin\u00faa trabajando arduamente para fortalecer la instituci\u00f3n y cumplir con las directrices del Gobierno y del presidente de la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana, Luis Abinader, implementando una pol\u00edtica estatal integral para la conservaci\u00f3n y protecci\u00f3n del medio ambiente.<br \/>\nMARENA fue creado para desarrollar y financiar programas y proyectos de protecci\u00f3n, conservaci\u00f3n, investigaci\u00f3n, educaci\u00f3n, restauraci\u00f3n y uso sostenible del medio ambiente y los recursos naturales en beneficio de las comunidades naturales y las personas. Es un fondo patrimonial legal e independiente con administraci\u00f3n y jurisdicci\u00f3n propias en toda la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana.
