SUMMARY:TEMPLATE
DESCRIPTION:The Caribbean region is home to rich biodiversity and vibrant coastal ecosystems\, which are vital to local economies\, livelihoods\, and cultural heritage. However\, these ecosystems face increasing threats from climate change\, unsustainable resource use\, and biodiversity loss. In response\, collaborative conservation financing mechanisms have emerged as essential tools to support grassroots and national efforts to protect and restore the region’s natural capital. \nConservation Trust Funds (CTFs) in the Caribbean have played a critical role in delivering long-term\, sustainable financing for biodiversity and ecosystem management. Simultaneously\, the Global Environment Facility’s Small Grants Programme (GEF SGP) has provided direct support to community-based and civil society-led conservation and climate resilience initiatives. Both mechanisms share a common vision: empowering local actors to deliver tangible environmental benefits through strategic\, inclusive\, and sustainable interventions. \nIncreasingly\, collaboration between CTFs and the GEF SGP is proving to be a promising model for enhancing conservation impact\, strengthening institutional capacity\, and ensuring alignment with national and international environmental goals. These partnerships offer valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange\, co-financing\, and scaling up of successful initiatives.
