Depuis le d\u00e9but des \u00e9ruptions des collines de la Soufri\u00e8re en 1995, la vie sur l'\u00eele s'est d\u00e9plac\u00e9e vers le nord et les for\u00eats des collines centrales sont devenues encore plus importantes.<\/p>\n<p>Ces collines abritent la majeure partie de la for\u00eat restante de l'\u00eele et une grande partie de ses r\u00e9serves d'eau douce. Elles sont le refuge de l'oriole de Montserrat, l'oiseau national, qui ne vit nulle part ailleurs sur Terre, ainsi que de reptiles et d'amphibiens rares.<\/p>\n<p>Le long des c\u00f4tes, les r\u00e9cifs et les herbiers marins favorisent la p\u00eache et prot\u00e8gent le littoral, tandis que les terres fournissent des granulats volcaniques et un sol fertile. Montserrat's natural wealth is the foundation for a resilient future.","cp_overview_heading":"A living island","cp_overview":"<p>Montserrat has been shaped by its volcano. Since the Soufri\u00e8re Hills eruptions began in 1995, life on the island has moved north, and the forests of the Centre Hills have become even more important.<\/p><p>These hills hold most of the island's remaining forest and much of its fresh water. They are home to the Montserrat oriole, the national bird, which lives nowhere else on Earth, along with rare reptiles and amphibians.<\/p><p>Around the coast, reefs and seagrass support fishing and protect the shore, while the land supplies volcanic aggregates and fertile soil.
