Ce projet \u00e9tend et reproduit des mod\u00e8les r\u00e9ussis de restauration corallienne communautaire \u00e0 Sainte-Lucie et \u00e0 Saint-Vincent-et-les-Grenadines, avec pour objectif \u00e0 long terme de r\u00e9duire les risques climatiques li\u00e9s \u00e0 la disparition des r\u00e9cifs coralliens. Il utilisera des techniques de restauration \u00e9prouv\u00e9es pour propager et transplanter \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle des fragments (et micro-fragments) de corail sur des sites cibles dans les deux pays. Sous la direction de g\u00e9n\u00e9ticiens, il veillera \u00e0 ce que les coraux transplant\u00e9s pr\u00e9sentent une diversit\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9tique \u00e9lev\u00e9e, favorisant ainsi la reproduction sexu\u00e9e et la dispersion d'\u0153ufs fertiles sur les r\u00e9cifs environnants. Le taux de couverture corallienne pourrait ne pas \u00e9voluer significativement pendant la dur\u00e9e du projet, mais on s'attend \u00e0 ce que les efforts de restauration soutenus aboutissent \u00e0 long terme \u00e0 une augmentation de la couverture des coraux durs constructeurs de r\u00e9cifs.<\/p>\n
The Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) approach taken by CLEAR involves scaling up two existing coral restoration projects and establishing three new nurseries and restoration sites in the process. It is theorized that reefs\u2019 ecological resilience will be strengthened by improving coral diversity through human-assisted interventions. St. Lucia\u2019s practitioners will be working in the Soufriere Marine Management Area (SMMA), the island\u2019s largest MPA, and with community members of Soufriere. In St. Vincent and the Grenadines, interventions will be executed across four sites, Richmond Vale on the mainland, Mayreau, Union Island and Petit St. Vincent. The project facilitates communication between restoration practitioners in the two islands and develops partnerships with the private sector for the continued support of these initiatives beyond the time frame of the project. The expansion of existing sustainable financing is planned to ensure that coral restoration continues as a community-based activity beyond the life of the project.<\/p>\n
