By establishing a waste-to-product facility, the initiative creates a complete value chain from local collection to transformation and sale through domestic and international markets. The model shows that plastic recycling can be both economically viable and community-driven, delivering environmental protection, local jobs, and a scalable solution that can inspire similar efforts across the Caribbean.

Objectifs clés

Prevent plastic litter from entering the marine environment

Establish a local waste-to-product facility and value chain

Create jobs and community-driven circular economy solutions

Build a scalable model that can be replicated across the Caribbean

Focus sur l'écosystème

This project aims to protect Dominica’s riverine, coastal, and marine ecosystems by preventing plastic waste from entering waterways and the ocean.

Communautés impliquées

This project is fostering sustainable livelihoods in the community of Roseau.

Organisations de mise en œuvre

Organisation chef de file : The Great Plastic Bake Off (GPBO) is an innovative green-tech organization turning plastic waste into opportunity for communities across the Caribbean and beyond.
