{"id":32754,"date":"2026-06-18T00:14:20","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T04:14:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cbf-trubudget.com\/?p=32754"},"modified":"2026-06-18T00:14:20","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T04:14:20","slug":"jamaicans-curating-one-of-the-caribbeans-largest-acropora-gene-banks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/caribbeanbiodiversityfund.org\/fr\/jamaicans-curating-one-of-the-caribbeans-largest-acropora-gene-banks\/","title":{"rendered":"Des Jama\u00efcains g\u00e8rent l&#039;une des plus grandes banques de g\u00e8nes d&#039;Acropora des Cara\u00efbes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Pays:<\/strong> Jama\u00efque<br \/>\n<strong>Nom du projet :<\/strong> Sanctuaire marin de Derby Beach<br \/>\n<strong>Auteur:<\/strong> F\u00e9lix Charnley<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trois ans apr\u00e8s le quatri\u00e8me \u00e9pisode mondial de blanchissement des coraux de 2023-2024, un effort men\u00e9 \u00e0 l&#039;\u00e9chelle de la Jama\u00efque a permis la cr\u00e9ation de l&#039;une des plus grandes collections in situ d&#039;\u00e9chantillons individuels. <em>Acropora<\/em> g\u00e9notypes dans les Cara\u00efbes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trois ans apr\u00e8s le quatri\u00e8me \u00e9pisode mondial de blanchissement des coraux de 2023-2024, un effort men\u00e9 \u00e0 l&#039;\u00e9chelle de la Jama\u00efque a permis la cr\u00e9ation de l&#039;une des plus grandes collections in situ d&#039;\u00e9chantillons individuels. <em>Acropora<\/em> g\u00e9notypes dans les Cara\u00efbes.<\/p>\n<p>Chacun de ces g\u00e9notypes pr\u00e9sum\u00e9s, ou coraux parents \u00e9chantillonn\u00e9s, repr\u00e9sente l&#039;une des 300 derni\u00e8res colonies restantes qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 g\u00e9or\u00e9f\u00e9renc\u00e9es sur 91 miles de la c\u00f4te nord depuis le d\u00e9p\u00e9rissement quasi-extirpatoire que le genre a subi localement en octobre 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Les r\u00e9sultats de la campagne de recherche men\u00e9e un an sous l&#039;\u00e9gide du sanctuaire de poissons de White River \u00e0 Ocho Rios ont \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s au symposium Reef Futures fin 2024. La recherche a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tendue aux paroisses de St. Mary et de Hanover en 2025, contribuant ainsi au r\u00e9tablissement d&#039;une plus grande diversit\u00e9 d&#039;esp\u00e8ces. <em>Acropora<\/em> culture dans les sanctuaires de poissons d&#039;Oracabessa, de Boscobel, de Lucea et de Grange Pen cette ann\u00e9e-l\u00e0.<\/p>\n<p>Le sanctuaire marin de Derby Beach s&#039;inscrit dans la continuit\u00e9 de ce travail essentiel. Port\u00e9 par un comit\u00e9 de propri\u00e9taires soucieux de l&#039;environnement de la communaut\u00e9 de Silver Sands et des membres de la Fisher Friendly Society de Duncans Bay, ce projet constitue un lieu de conservation central pour les animaux rescap\u00e9s provenant de toute la paroisse de Trelawny.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16522\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16522\" style=\"width: 768px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-16522\" src=\"https:\/\/caribbeanbiodiversityfund.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/3-3f671330-e546-4bb1-b39f-785518db9327-768x1024.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16522\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mario Roxburgh, chasseur sous-marin et \u00e9leveur de coraux, taille et replante des coraux corne de cerf en bonne sant\u00e9. | Photographe\u00a0: Felix Charnley<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Abritant au total environ 3 000 clones de tailles diverses, Derby Beach a install\u00e9 des p\u00e9pini\u00e8res \u00e0 quatre endroits le long du r\u00e9cif principal de Silver Sands depuis janvier 2025, avec une repr\u00e9sentation de 74 colonies sources : 40 elkhorn, <em>Acropora palmata<\/em>; 23 cornes de cerf, <em>Acropora cervicornis<\/em>; et 11 cornes de cerf fusionn\u00e9es, <em>Acropora prolifera<\/em>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16520\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16520\" style=\"width: 768px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-16520\" src=\"https:\/\/caribbeanbiodiversityfund.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/1-9fdc67df-c9f8-474e-808a-b3e9155f042d-768x1024.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16520\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Des unit\u00e9s de transplantation modulaires, install\u00e9es \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 du r\u00e9cif et dissimul\u00e9es le long du banc de sable prot\u00e9g\u00e9, sont destin\u00e9es \u00e0 assurer une survie maximale des coraux et, \u00e0 terme, \u00e0 repeupler le r\u00e9cif de larves. Cr\u00e9dit photo\u00a0: Felix Charnley.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>L\u2019objectif est de garantir une diversit\u00e9 maximale au sein des nurseries permanentes afin d\u2019\u00e9tablir des populations matures et hybrides \u00e0 petite \u00e9chelle qui peuvent \u00eatre continuellement \u00e9tendues le long de ce syst\u00e8me r\u00e9cifal, et m\u00eame d\u2019autres si un partage inter-sanctuaires a lieu.<\/p>\n<p>Les p\u00e9pini\u00e8res de Derby Beach sont situ\u00e9es \u00e0 Silver Sands, un site prot\u00e9g\u00e9 des temp\u00eates o\u00f9 la cr\u00eate r\u00e9cifale, longue de pr\u00e8s d&#039;un kilom\u00e8tre, affleure la surface et plonge \u00e0 une profondeur moyenne de cinq m\u00e8tres. That\u2019s how we know we\u2019re banking uniquely on climate-adapted genetics and possibly some of the best in the Caribbean. The question is, how fast can we grow them out and do everything in our power to ensure they persist beyond another episode like 2023?
