CBF EBA FACILITY THIRD CALL FOR PROPOSALS IS OPEN

Eba Facility Third Call for ProposalsCaribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF), August 31st, 2021 - The CBF has opened its Third Call for Proposals (3rd CfP), through the Ecosystem-based Adaptation Facility (the EbA Facility). The EbA Facility is requesting project proposals with a focus on EbA actions that help people adapt to adverse effects of climate change, reduce disaster risk, and build resilient ecosystems and economies.

To date, a total of 17.4 million USD was committed to the implementation of the 16 projects under the first two calls for proposals, with another 4.6 million USD in the pipeline for approved projects.

While the CBF EbA Facility has maintained the open call for proposals approach, it has added two additional features to this 3rd CfP. The territory of Montserrat has been added as a possible beneficiary country, and United Nations agencies have been added to the list of entities which can apply for funding.

The Facility, through its 3rd CfP is requesting project concept notes with a focus on EbA actions that help people adapt to adverse effects of climate change, reduce disaster risk, and build resilient ecosystems and economies. The EbA Facility resources are composed of a 45 million EUR contribution from the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety through KfW.

Around ten to fifteen million USD could be allocated under this Third Call for Proposals, depending on the number and quality of proposals. The EbA Facility will distribute grants from USD250,000 up to USD2 million, directly to local, national, regional and international institutions, including civil society organizations, government agencies, universities & research organizations, community-based organizations, and United Nations agencies in eligible countries and territories.
