Rehabilitation of Marine Habitats and Their Livelihoods in the Province of Samana for Their Adaptation to Climate Change

This project increases the resilience of communities and socio-economic systems in Samana by restoring degraded marine, coastal, and terrestrial ecosystems and strengthening sustainable tourism, fisheries, and agriculture. Its integrated ridge-to-coast approach combines mangrove, beach, coral, seagrass, watershed, and agroforestry interventions with community training and climate-informed planning.
Objectifs clƩs
- Restore and rehabilitate mangroves, beaches, coral reefs, seagrass beds, and watersheds
- Increase the resilience of tourism, fisheries, agriculture, and coastal livelihoods
- Reduce erosion, flooding, storm-surge risks, and other climate impacts
- Strengthen community capacity and connect scientific and local knowledge

Mangroves, beaches, coral reefs, seagrass beds, estuaries, agricultural lands, and watersheds in Samana Province.
