Quick answers about the CBF, our funding, careers and media.
À propos du CBF
What is the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund?
The Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) is a regional umbrella environmental fund. Since 2012 we have raised and managed long term finance for conservation and sustainable development in the Caribbean.
Our mission is to ensure continuous funding for conservation and sustainable development in the Caribbean. Read more about who we are.
What does the CBF do?
We design and manage financing solutions that help Caribbean countries protect biodiversity, build climate resilience and grow nature based economies. Our work runs through three programs:
- Financement de la conservation: the CBF Endowment Fund provides long term funding to our network of partner National Conservation Trust Funds (NCTFs).
- Changement climatique: the Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) Facility helps coastal communities adapt to climate change through healthy marine and coastal ecosystems.
- Économies fondées sur la nature: the Advancing Circular Economy (ACE) Facility supports projects that keep waste out of the sea and turn marine litter into opportunity.
Where does the CBF work?
We work with partners in 15 countries across the Caribbean. See our projects on the project map or browse the project database.
How is the CBF funded, and how are its resources used?
Our annual reports, audited financial statements and policies are published on Notre responsabilité.
Where is the CBF based?
Our team works remotely across the Caribbean. The CBF has registered offices in the United Kingdom and Jamaica for official correspondence. You will find both addresses on our Connecter page.
Funding and grants
How can my organization apply for funding?
The CBF awards grants through competitive calls for proposals under its grant facilities. Open calls, with their eligibility criteria, templates and deadlines, are listed on Appels à propositions.
Who is eligible to apply?
Eligibility is different for each call. Each call for proposals sets out which countries, types of organization and kinds of project qualify, so please read the call documents carefully before applying.
How does the application process work?
Applicants first submit a Concept Note. Selected Concept Notes are then invited to submit a Full Proposal. The details for each step are in the call documents.
Can I see examples of projects the CBF has funded?
Yes. Browse the project database, or meet our EbA Facility grantees et ACE Facility grantees. We do not share the proposal documents of successful applicants.
I have a question about a specific call. Who should I ask?
Start with the call’s own page, which has the full documents. If your question is not answered there, email [email protected] and include the name of the call in the subject line.
