Clean River, Living Ocean
Circularity solutions to reduce waste flow in the Yaque del Norte River
- República Dominicana
- Subvención para instalaciones ACE
- Cofinanciación
Project overview
The project removes solid waste from the Yaque del Norte River before it reaches the Atlantic Ocean, combining innovative waste interception, improved management systems, and circular economy solutions.
It builds on Parley Dominican Republic’s proven pilot barrier, which intercepts over 70 tonnes of waste annually. Through community collection routes, separation and recycling stations, a local collection centre, strengthened monitoring, eco-design innovation, and education programmes for teachers, students, and communities, the project reduces river pollution while fostering lasting behaviour change to protect the Dominican Republic’s freshwater and marine ecosystems.
