Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago
This project demonstrated scalable, community-driven nature-based solutions using vetiver to reduce upland land-management impacts on coastal ecosystems across four Caribbean countries. It combined technical innovation, capacity building, green business development, geospatial mapping, and local partnerships. The work established a regional cadre of trained practitioners, supported nurseries and green businesses, and developed CARICOM’s first vetiver export protocol.
Objectifs clés
- Rehabilitate degraded upland and coastal ecosystems using vetiver-based nature-based solutions
- Train communities, farmers, specialists, and green businesses in climate-smart and EbA practices
- Use geospatial mapping and drone technologies to support planning and monitoring
- Strengthen regional knowledge exchange, livelihood development, and replication
