This project built ecological and community resilience in Cuba and the Dominican Republic through mangrove restoration, coral propagation, Sargassum composting, and community-centered ecosystem-based adaptation planning. Technical exchange between the two countries strengthened restoration practice, while work with farmers and coastal communities supported sustainable livelihoods and reduced land-based pressures on marine ecosystems.

Objectifs clés

  • Restore degraded mangroves, coral reefs, and other coastal habitats
  • Transfer and expand coral sexual-propagation and restoration techniques
  • Develop community-centered ecosystem-based adaptation plans
  • Convert Sargassum into useful compost and strengthen sustainable agricultural value chains
