Mangroves for Development – Securing Livelihoods and Climate Resilience in the Caribbean

This project reduced climate risks and strengthened social, ecological, and economic resilience across coastal-marine landscapes and adjacent lands in Monte Cristi Province. It used a landscape-scale ecosystem-based adaptation approach integrating sustainable livestock production, mangrove and riparian restoration, community capacity building, and financial mechanisms that promote sustainable and inclusive value chains and businesses.

- Rehabilitate degraded mangroves, riparian areas, and connected terrestrial ecosystems
- Promote sustainable livestock production and improved land-management practices
- Strengthen community awareness and capacity for ecosystem stewardship
- Develop financial mechanisms and inclusive value chains that support resilient livelihoods
