Project Overview
Mangroves for Development – Securing Livelihoods and Climate Resilience in the Caribbean
Dominican Republic
This project reduced climate risks and strengthened social, ecological, and economic resilience across coastal-marine landscapes and adjacent lands in Monte Cristi Province. It used a landscape-scale ecosystem-based adaptation approach integrating sustainable livestock production, mangrove and riparian restoration, community capacity building, and financial mechanisms that promote sustainable and inclusive value chains and businesses.

CATIE led the integrated landscape approach, bringing together ecological restoration, sustainable production, financial mechanisms, research, and community capacity development.
