Project overview

This project tackles marine pollution in the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Jamaica, and Saint Lucia by advancing circular economy practices in tourism. Focusing on reducing single-use plastics, diverting waste from landfills, and protecting fragile marine ecosystems, it strengthens stakeholder engagement, raises awareness, and equips tourism enterprises with the tools and knowledge for long-term sustainable practices.

Inspired by a proven initiative in the South Baltic Region, the project establishes a regional framework, develops self-assessment tools, and pilots innovative waste reduction programmes. Through the transformation of tourism businesses, training of individuals, and engagement of stakeholders, it aims to prevent marine-bound waste, protect coastal ecosystems, and create a replicable model for all CHTA and CAST Caribbean jurisdictions.
