Conservation Finance Program Fact Sheet

The Caribbean Biodiversity Fund’s (CBF) Conservation Finance Program is dedicated to providing reliable, long-term funding for the protection and management of biodiversity and natural resources across Caribbean Small Island Developing States. Backed primarily by a US$100 million Endowment Fund established in 2012, this program supports twelve targeted country sub-accounts. The proceeds from these accounts are distributed to eligible National Conservation Trust Funds (NCTFs), forming the Caribbean Sustainable Finance Architecture. These independent national funds then administer local grant-making initiatives, build capacity among civil society and community organizations, and foster long-term conservation efforts, incentivized to generate sustainable matching revenues that direct both public and private resources toward nature conservation and sustainable development.
