Eco Mujer Dominicana is a gender-focused environmental initiative supported by the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF). The project raises awareness of the vital role women play in environmental conservation and promotes their empowerment in the sustainable use and protection of natural resources.
Implemented in the provinces of Azua, Espaillat, and Santo Domingo, the initiative included educational sessions, community cleanups, and tree planting activities. Over 260 women were directly engaged, strengthening their leadership in environmental action and benefiting their families and communities.
Results achieved:
- 260 women have received capacity building and have acquired skills to protect the environment
- 2 clean-ups realized500 plants planted
- 3 collaboration Agreements with institutions signed
Eco Mujer Dominicana is an environmental initiative with a gender focus, financed by the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF), which seeks to promote the empowerment of Dominican women in the care and protection of the environment. Eco Mujer was born from the need to promote and recognize the importance of women in their environment, families and communities.
The project was developed in three provinces of the Dominican Republic, Azua, Espaillat and Santo Domingo, where talks, cleanups and planting days were held, directly impacting more than 260 women and indirectly the entire population
