Celebrating powerful Caribbean stories of climate change, resilience, and biodiversity through photography.
The Caribbean Biodiversity Fund’s Caribbean Regional Architecture for Biodiversity (CRAB) Project Photo Contest invited photographers across the region to capture how climate change and biodiversity loss are reshaping Caribbean communities, coastlines, and wildlife. We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2025 edition.
The Caribbean Regional Architecture for Biodiversity (CRAB) project is funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the French Global Environmental Facility (FFEM). The CRAB Project was designed to contribute to the development of sustainable and sufficient resources for the conservation of ecosystems in the Caribbean Region.

Contest Information
Photography Themes
Participants are encouraged to capture images that reflect one of the following themes:
- The effects of climate change in my Caribbean backyard – Showcasing environmental shifts and their impact on local ecosystems.
- How natural disasters are impacting me, nature, and my Caribbean people – Visualizing the effects of hurricanes, flooding, droughts, and other climate-driven disasters.
- How our Caribbean communities are protecting our region’s nature – Highlighting conservation efforts and community-led solutions.
- Adapt or die: How our Caribbean people, species, and landscapes are adapting to biodiversity or climate change stressors – Capturing resilience and adaptation strategies.
These themes aim to raise awareness, spark conversations, and showcase the region’s unique environmental challenges and solutions.
Eligibility
- Open to amateur and professional photographers permanently residing in: Antigua & Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin.
- Photos must be taken in or feature subject matter from the list of the eligible Caribbean countries.
- Photos must be original and taken by the entrant.
- Smartphone photos are eligible.
- Maximum one (1) submission per theme per entrant.
- Employees, Board members, and immediate family of CBF employees and CBF Board members and/or CBF Committees are not eligible to enter.
Photo Requirements
- File Format: JPEG
- Size: Between 1MB and 10MB
- Resolution: Minimum 3000 pixels
- Editing Restrictions: Only minor adjustments (brightness, contrast) allowed; no compositing or major alterations.
- No Signatures or Watermarks: Submissions must be free of visible marks.
Submission Process
- Each entrant must sign a declaration confirming they own the copyright to the submitted photo or have obtained the necessary permissions to use it.
- By entering the contest, participants grant the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) a license to use the submitted photo for all CBF-related communication purposes, including but not limited to promotional materials, social media, and publications.
- Any photo submitted without proper ownership or permission will result in immediate disqualification from the contest.
- Submission deadline is Friday, May 30, 2025 at 11:59 PM AST (GMT-04).
