Key Achievements in Saint Lucia

The CBF’s partnership with Saint Lucia has yielded remarkable achievements, fostering long-term conservation efforts and safeguarding the island’s irreplaceable natural beauty:

2016: Establishment of the Saint Lucia National Conservation Fund (SLUNCF)

This landmark initiative, established with CBF's support, created a dedicated funding stream for critical conservation projects throughout Saint Lucia. The SLUNCF ensures long-term financial sustainability for managing protected areas and safeguarding Saint Lucia's diverse ecosystems for generations to come.

2017: Signing of the CBF Partnership Agreement

The formalization of our collaboration in 2017 solidified our commitment to working alongside Saint Lucia. This agreement established a framework for coordinated and impactful conservation efforts, maximizing the combined resources and expertise of the CBF and Saint Lucian partners.

2023: The St. Lucia National Conservation Fund (SLUNCF) succesfully completed the first Partnership Agreement

This ensures continued access to financial support through the CBF Endowment Fund—St. Lucia sub-account—enabling SLUNCF to advance its work in supporting conservation, restoration, and effective biodiversity management in Saint Lucia Caribbean Biodiversity Fund .

2024: The St. Lucia National Conservation Fund (SLUNCF) and the CBF host the REDLAC

The first ever held in the English-speaking Caribbean. The event brought together conservation trust funds from across Latin America and the Caribbean to strengthen leadership and collaboration in environmental conservation.

Total CBF Funding: $1.3M

The CBF has invested $1.3 million in Saint Lucia, empowering local partners to protect the island’s unique biodiversity, restore marine and coastal ecosystems, and support sustainable livelihoods that build climate resilience.
