The CBF and SLUNCF announce the first Caribbean Conservation Finance Congress 2021

The Caribbean Biodiversity Fund and the Saint Lucia National Conservation Fund are proud to be the co-organizers and hosts of the inaugural Caribbean Conservation Finance Congress scheduled for July 6th – 8th, 2021 in a virtual format. The Congress will focus on building and showcasing Caribbean sustainable financing solutions for conservation and sustainable development, exchanging experiences among Caribbean actors, and learning from other regions and global initiatives.

Objectives:

This event will provide a forum to:

  1. Showcase, discuss and advance conservation finance mechanisms designed by the Caribbean for the Caribbean.
  2. Promote strong and long-term financing solutions and resources mobilization scenarios for the Caribbean region to accomplish the 2030 targets, including positioning the Caribbean Sustainable Finance Architecture and conservation trust funds in general as a key ally for resource mobilization.
  3. Promote exchange and learning among Caribbean conservation finance actors.

The event will also create an excellent opportunity for networking and establishing a sustainable network of partners and stakeholder organizations focused on conservation finance in the Caribbean.

Asha-Gaye Cowell
Program Officer, Conservation Finance
Asha-Gaye Cowell is the Conservation Finance Program Officer. She has a diversified academic background, which includes a BSc. Economics and Statistics with first class honors, MSc. International Public and Development Management and a Visiting Fellowship Certification from the University of Oxford where she studied Behavioral Economics along with Strategy and Ethics. Complementing her academic prowess is a cross-section of professional experiences, including work with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), UNECLAC, USAID, the Permanent Missions of Jamaica to the UN, among others. With extensive civic involvement, volunteerism, and strategic partnerships, Asha is very passionate about leadership, international and regional development, economics, youth and climate change.
