Indhira de Jesús

Indhira de Jesús is an environmental professional with over 30 years of experience in environmental policy and regulation, climate resilience and adaptation and project management. She has been instrumental in developing her country´s capacities for climate adaptation for over 20 years. She has technical expertise in the fields of environmental policy, adaptation to climate change, natural resources management and biodiversity conservation. From the development of the country´s environmental impact assessment process to supporting the national climate policy, to facilitating the first municipal climate adaptation plans in the Dominican Republic, she has been a force in promoting changes that increase sustainability and resilience. Indhira has also made significant contributions to building individual and institutional capacities for climate action and the nexus with biodiversity conservation. She was part of the Nature Conservancy´s Caribbean team, working to secure the establishment of the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund. She has 13 years of experience in project management and monitoring, with 8 years of experience managing programs funded by international agencies, including World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, and USAID, with a track record of successful implementation plus experience as a consultant or as a government counterpart with GIZ, AECID and AFD. She has also been an instructor and lecturer for Dominican universities for over 25 years and has experience working with multiple Caribbean countries as she co-created and coordinated during its first year, the World Bank/CEPF funded project in Social Accountability for Biodiversity Conservation.
