This assistance will go directly to covering the cost of Fish Processing Certified Vocational Qualification for 7 women in the most rural part of Grenada. The benefits of attaining the required qualifications is meant to aid in long term food processing and by extension entrepreneurship for sustainable livelihood. In 2022, the Grenada Sustainable Development Trust Fund Inc (GSDTF) had the pleasure of meeting a dynamic group of women from St. Mark’s Women in Action, a community-based organization in the parish of St. Mark. Their primary mission is to support the development and upliftment of women, girls, and the community. Since its establishment in 2016, this organization has undertaken numerous capacity development initiatives for both its members and the wider community. One notable initiative received support from the GSDTF through a grant of USD 10,000.00, which was used to pursue Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) Level 1 training in Fish Processing and Handling. Under the guidance of the Grenada National Training Agency (GNTA), Trainer Mr. Moran Mitchell and Coordinator Mrs. Lisa Chetram, seven (7) women and three (3) men participated in this training and successfully completed it in 2023. On January 24th, 2025, the achievement of this vibrant group was celebrated with an award ceremony held at the Radisson Beach Resort, with CBF representative present.
