The Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) seeks a Communications Consultant to support the Caribbean BluEFin Project and the CBF’s Conservation Finance Program. The consultant will contribute directly to implementing the project’s communication and knowledge strategies in line with GEF, UNEP, and CBF guidelines.
Working under the guidance of the BluEFin Project Technical Officer and the Conservation Finance Program Manager, and in collaboration with the Caribbean BluEFin Project Coordination Unit (PCU) and the CBF Communications Officer, the consultant will:
Develop and manage internal and external communication tools.
Support the development and dissemination of knowledge products.
Assist with visibility, branding, and digital media management across participating Caribbean countries.
This part-time consultancy (24 hours per week) supports year-specific communication goals—raising awareness, strengthening engagement, promoting advocacy, and consolidating regional impact. The position is remote within the Caribbean and requires occasional regional travel.
Expected Deliverables:
The Communications Consultant will be responsible for producing and maintaining high-quality communication materials and supporting key outreach initiatives. Core deliverables include:
Execution of the Caribbean BluEFin Communication and Knowledge Plan aligned with CBF, UNEP, and GEF standards.
Development of consistent branding, messaging, and visual identity across publications, factsheets, and online platforms.
Creation of engaging content — including press releases, blog articles, newsletters, and social media updates.
Design and layout of communication materials using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
Regular updates to the CBF website and social media platforms.
Documentation and dissemination of knowledge products such as toolkits, case studies, and policy briefs.
Tracking of analytics and performance metrics related to communications outputs.
Event management support for webinars, forums, and regional stakeholder engagements.
Maintenance of a shared digital repository of project communication assets and templates.
Preparation of regular reports on communication activities, contributions to UNEP progress reports, and mid-term reviews.
Budget:
Compensation will be established within a budget of USD 20,000 annually.
Minimum qualifications:
All candidates must have knowledge in inclusive communication and provide evidence of the following:
Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies, Digital Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field from a recognized university.
At least three (3) years of proven experience in communications and/or public relations, preferably in the context of conservation or environmental projects.
The following will be considered advantageous:
Experience with environmental conservation project communications.
Region-wide Caribbean experience.
Knowledge and experience in gender-responsive communications.
Technical Skills:
Communications Project Administration: Experience developing and implementing communication strategies and action plans, with knowledge of publishing standards, grammar, and APA citation style. Technical writing experience is an asset.
Project Coordination Support: Proven ability to coordinate and support remote or virtual teams effectively.
Records Management: Skilled in organizing, classifying, and archiving communication materials (images, reports, presentations). Knowledge of intellectual property, consent, and image rights is required.
Event Organizing: Experience managing logistics for virtual, hybrid, and in-person events.
Stakeholder Engagement: Experience engaging diverse partners and facilitating inclusive participation; donor liaison experience is an asset.
Technology Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, Zoom, and social media platforms (Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn). Experienced with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, MailChimp, and content management systems like WordPress. Familiarity with ZohoOne is an asset.
