The Gender Officer will be a critical role within the CBF, designed to advance gender equality and social inclusion focused primarily on the BluEFin Project, while also providing support to the other projects falling under the CF Program. Recognizing that gender equality is fundamental to achieving sustainable development, this position focuses on integrating gender perspectives into conservation finance mechanisms, policies, and practices. The Gender Officer will lead the development and implementation of gender-sensitive monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks to ensure that gender considerations are systematically incorporated into the planning, execution, and assessment of particularly the Blue Economy Finance project and in that sense also supports CBF’s mission of biodiversity conservation while also aligning with broader goals of social justice and empowerment, making it a cornerstone of the CBF’s strategic approach to sustainable development.
This role is particularly significant given the diverse and unique gender dynamics in the Caribbean region. The Gender Officer will work closely with the BluEFin project stakeholders, including but not limited to: National Conservation Trust Funds (NCTFs), government institutions, international and non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to promote gender mainstreaming in environmental conservation. By fostering inclusive participation and ensuring that gender-specific needs and perspectives are addressed, the Gender Officer will contribute to more effective and equitable conservation outcomes.
