Linda Breukers is Dutch and has been living in Latin America since 2009. Since 2014, Linda has worked in the solid waste and circular economy sector in Colombia and other countries in Latin America. In 2019 and 2020 she worked as a waste expert for the Colombian ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and was part of the design of the Colombian national strategy on circular economy. In this position, she supported the implementation of the Extended Producer Responsibility policy for packaging and the design of the National Plan for the sustainable management of single-use plastics.
For the last four years she has worked for international organizations, such as the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the German Cooperation Agency and the United Nations Environment Program. Additionally, Linda Breukers is special convoy for Holland Circular Hotspot.
The last two years she worked as a Financial Waste Management Specialist at UNEP’s “Zero Waste in the Caribbean” project. She supported several countries with investigating finance opportunities for their waste management projects and helping them with the design of financial instruments.
Currently she is part of the Business Development Team of Fuse Caribbean. FUSE Caribbean is a circular concept, based in Curacao, created by the Great Plastic Bake Off to facilitate communities around the world with green tech (FUSE Kitchens) and smart products to make a difference with plastic waste.
