Mangroves for Development – Securing Livelihoods and Climate Resilience in the Caribbean
Dominican Republic
The Mangroves for Development project strengthened climate resilience and livelihoods in Montecristi through integrated mangrove restoration, sustainable land use, and value-chain development. Restoration improved hydrological conditions across 709 hectares of mangroves and associated riparian systems. The project also promoted sustainable livestock and farming practices, strengthened local enterprises, and increased awareness of mangroves’ role in climate adaptation.
