Junior L. Buchanan is a highly accomplished finance professional with over nine years of experience in financial management, accounting, procurement, and operations. Currently serving as the Senior Finance Officer at the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund, Junior oversees assets totaling US$200 million and manages projects funded by international donors, including Germany, Canada, the United States, and various UN agencies. His expertise lies in strategic financial planning, regulatory compliance, and optimizing resources to drive organizational success.   In his current role, Junior leads financial operations, ensuring compliance and accuracy in budgeting, financial reporting, and grant management. He supervises a multidisciplinary team, manages disbursements to over 40 grantees across 10+ Caribbean countries, and provides strategic financial advice to the CEO. Previously, as Finance Officer at the same organization, Junior managed resources of US$180 million, led procurement processes, and ensured compliance with donor requirements.   Junior’s career also includes roles at Cuso International, where he provided financial and programmatic support, and at Tetratech DPK, where he managed USAID-funded projects. He has a proven track record of cost optimization, achieving an average of 26% budget savings annually, and has successfully led over 30 professionals in finance and operations.   Junior holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Services Management and is pursuing a Chartered Banker MBA at Bangor University. He is also a Chartered Business Administrator (ChBA) and holds professional certificates in Applied Corporate Finance (University of Cambridge) and Sustainable Finance (University of Oxford).   A member of the Chartered Bankers Institute UK, Junior is proficient in financial software such as QuickBooks, Zoho CRM, and TruBudget.
