Liliana Betancourt Fernández is a biologist with doctorate studies in environmental sciences
finished during 1997, in Spain. Since then, I live in Dominican Republic collaborating with the
environmental sector as a consultant in the environmental management, both in Environmental
Impact Assessment of development projects and their environmental monitoring, as well as,
with ecological characterizations for management plans on basins, provinces or in protected
areas. Furthermore, as a researcher I have worked in several publications and books about
biodiversity inventories, as well as environmental management. Through all these years in the
environmental sector I have been working together with different national or international NGO’s
in several projects focusing on the natural resources conservation with the communities’
involvement. All these projects have been implemented with the collaboration of Ministry of
Environment and Natural Resources of Dominican Republic and the support of different
international cooperation agencies as UNDP, Germany GIZ, Oxfam Quebec and USAID.
