
Nayari Diaz

Nayari Diaz is a Belizean professional in the conservation sector with over 20 years’ experience
in protected areas and biodiversity financing, particularly in grant management and project
planning, development and implementation. She also has 6 years’ working experience in
climate finance mobilization for Small Island Developing States. Additionally, Nayari also has
expertise in Conservation Trust Fund administration and most recently served as the Executive
Director of the Belize Protected Areas Conservation Trust, where her major achievements
included raising the institutional profile of the Fund through accreditation to the Green Climate
Fund and Adaptation Fund and establishment of a climate finance work program along with
strengthening of its conservation finance program. Throughout her extensive work, Nayari
served on various national and regional Boards and Committees and has been actively engaging
with private, public, civil society, and community-based organizations, both nationally and
regionally as well as with multilateral and international institutions such as the World Bank,
Green Climate Fund, Adaptation Fund, World Conservation Union (IUCN), German
Development Bank (KfW), German Technical Cooperation Agency (GIZ), Global Environment
Facility (GEF) and, the Central American Commission for Environment and Development
(CCAD), among others. She pledges continued commitment towards a sustainable future for
people and the natural environment.
