Youth Agriculture Science Internship Programme (YASIP)

SHARE

Summary & Objectives

Aligned to its Strategic Plan 2021-2025, the ZHTF SVG proposes to maintain an effort to transform the lives of citizens, including youths, into being more self-sufficient and self-sustaining. The ZHTF SVG believes that if youths from vulnerable communities are provided with the requisite opportunities for sustainable livelihoods, there will be more youth participation and contribution to the agriculture industry, promoting innovation and sustainability in the industry. Consequentially, the ZHTF SVG is piloting the Youth Agriculture Science Internship Programme (YASIP), to encourage youth involvement in agriculture and to provide Vincentian youths with opportunities for livelihoods in sustainable agriculture, through on-the-job training and relevant field experience. This project would support one cohort of the Youth Agriculture Science Programme (YASIP), which aims to: 1. Provide young individuals with opportunities in sustainable agriculture by offering on-the-job training and field experience at partnering agri-businesses. 2. Encourages youth engagement in agricultural production and innovation, fostering sustainable livelihoods in the industry 3. Enhance youths’ knowledge of sustainable agriculture policies, techniques, and expertise.
